Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (or 2FA) is used to add an extra layer of security when accessing TFX. Adding additional step of authenticating your identity makes it much harder for an attacker to access your data, even if credentials become compromised.

Covered here:

Enabling Two-Factor Authentication

1. Click on  Your Name in the top right corner of the screen, click on My Account, navigate to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section, and then click the Enable two-step verification link.

NOTE To use Two-Factor Authentication, you need to have at least one verified phone number. If you haven't done it yet, please refer to this article on how to do it.

2. Install the Google Authenticator application (or Authy, Duo, etc.) on your phone, tap Scan a QR code, then scan the QR code from your computer screen.

3. Enter the 6-digit code that authenticator app provides, then click the Connect Phone button. Two-Factor Authentication is enabled.

The code in Google Authenticator changes every 30 seconds, so if it is not accepted by TFX, enter the new one you see in the app.

Signing In With Two-Factor Authentication Enabled

Once 2-factor authentication is enabled, you will be prompted to enter a temporarily authentication code each time you sign in.

1. Open Google Authenticator or similar application on your smartphone, enter a provided code to the  Authentification code box, then click Verify.

The code in Google Authenticator changes every 30 seconds, so if it is not accepted by TFX, enter the new one you see in the app.

2. Select the  Remember this device for 30 days check box to temporarily disable Two-Factor Authentication for the current device. When done, you will not be prompted to enter the authentification code for 30 days when signing in from this device.

Having trouble signing in? Check the additional options below.

If for some reason you can't use Google Authenticator or similar application, you can log in via SMS. To do so,

1. Click the link at the bottom of the page.

2. If you have two or more verified phone numbers, you will be able to select which phone number you want the code sent to. If you have one verified phone number we will send SMS to it. Enter the code from SMS in the box, then click Confirm.

If you can't use SMS verification, please contact our support by clicking the link  at the bottom of the page.

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

If for some reason you don't want to use Multi-factor Authorization anymore, you can disable it. To do so:

1. Click on  Your Name in the top right corner of the screen, click on My Account, navigate to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section, and then click the Disable link.

2. Enter your TFX account password (you don't need to use the Google Authenticator application here), then click the Yes, disable 2FA button.

Note that if you have registered with Google account or Apple ID, you don't have a TFX password. Thus, to disable Two-Factor Authentication, you need to create the password first. See how.
