Does a government-mandated Social Security fund need to be reported on an FBAR?

If the fund is a Social Security fund (i.e. operated by the government), it does not have to be reported.

If the fund is privately operated (you have a specific balance to your name that is contingent on how much money you've contributed) it must be reported, even if contributions to the fund are mandated by the government.
